Jay has developed a practice focusing on corporate and commercial law, real estate (including real estate development), wills, estates and trusts. He regularly advises and represents clients involved in complex commercial transactions such as private securities offerings, corporate reorganizations and business acquisitions. He also represents clients involved in real estate development, at all stages of the development process. Jay has drafted and implemented numerous intervivos and testamentary trusts for clients, and represents clients acting as executors and administrators of estates on a regular and ongoing basis. Jay works with buyers, sellers, bankers and realtors to complete real estate transactions quickly and efficiently at a reasonable price. To all areas of his practice, Jay strives to provide quality, practical advice in a timely and useful manner.
Jay is a native of the Okanagan, having been born and raised in Penticton. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia in 1989 and, after a three-year career as an information systems consultant with a major consulting firm, attended and obtained his law degree from the University of Victoria in 1995.
Jay was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1996. He practiced law in Vancouver with Owen, Bird before joining Davidson Lawyers LLP in 1997. Jay became a partner of Davidson Lawyers LLP on January 1, 1999.
Jay is affiliated with the Canadian Bar Association and the Vernon Bar Association. He is a member of the Vernon Rotary club, and is currently the President of the United Way (North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap) and is a Director of the Vernon Chamber of Commerce. He provides pro bono advice to a number of other community and charitable organizations, and in his spare time enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, camping and hiking.
