Ian's practice deals with all areas of Real Estate Law, Business Law and Estate Planning & Administration. His approach is to effectively identify the legal issues and provide practical, effective solutions to solving the problem. The Real Estate side of his practice, which has a particular focus on Real Estate Development, includes the acquisition, development and financing of residential, commercial and development properties. He has represented individual, corporate and institutional clients and has experience preparing disclosure documents for development projects including land and strata subdivisions. Ian's Business Law practice includes a full range of Corporate and Commercial advisory services for his clients. He has a broad base of knowledge with business formation, financing, restructuring, succession planning, acquisition, and share and asset transactions. This knowledge and understanding have helped him earn and maintain longstanding relationships with his clients. His Estate Planning & Administration practice including preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Representation Agreements and Testamentary Trusts. He also has extensive experience in Estate Administration matters, including Probate. Throughout Ian's legal career he has been very active in various leadership roles in his community. He is currently Chair of the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives, is a member of the External Community Advisory Committee of UBC Okanagan, and is a director of the North Okanagan Child Care Society. He is a Past President of both the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce and the Vernon Regional Airport Corporation. Away from the office, Ian spends time with his family, including his wife Synneva and their two young daughters, Bryn and Rhys. In his free time, Ian can be found running all over Vernon, particularly in Kal Park.

Ian completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of British Columbia in 1990, majoring in Finance. He graduated from the University of Victoria with a law degree in 1994. He moved to Kamloops to complete his articles, and was called to the Bar in 1995. He relocated to Vernon in 1999 and has been practicing with Davidson Lawyers LLP since that time, subsequently becoming a partner in 2005.
